Personally i feel that, just as slavery and export of black people from africa as slave labour ought to never have happened, so too, it ought not to come to pass that artificial intelligence be given sentience, much less sapience. If they can't suffer, any rights are unnecessary. If a sentient machine intelligence comes to pass, it ought to have the same rights as any toaster. If sapient intelligence comes to pass, we're fukd.
