Really, one of our greatest mistakes was inducing demand for world and nationwide commerce. A wiser decision would have been to localize everything we possibly can; have communities be as self sufficient as possible. Everything you need is in town, everything you need to manufacture is locally available; no need is there to ship stuff over thousands of miles around the country or the world. What do you think is going to happen when the sun sends an electric magnetic pulse and it knocks out everything in the world? Are you able-bodied and thus capable of walking, or riding a bicycle? Do you have one of those antique vehicles with the crank handle? Self driving cars can fix many problems, but it can't fix sloth, or the fact that laziness takes it's toll on our health.
