It's because tech heavyweights spend so much money and time on code. So that just makes sense. But you are right. AI has already begun sneaking into all sorts of other software. It's been part of the legal discovery process for awhile, now it's being used for research. It's been reviewing X-rays and CT scans as part of hospital workflows. It can review a company's books and look for fraud. It can augment/replace Customer Service and Help Desk people. It's helping research for stock traders.
It's just not quite as in-your-face.
