If you genuinely believe that prior to AI tech companies were even remotely responsible and thinking about anything else but their pockets, I have bad news for you.
Nothing changed from their angle, the only change is you finally catching up to the reality that seems to have escaped you for so long.
The rest of your rant in terms of how bad the situation is, I very much agree with, but claiming it's new is really unsettling.
