I think something that's forgotten is that the system doesn't work without the consumer. Sure, wipe out large swaths of jobs without suitable replacements. Either UBI or replacement jobs will need to pop up or the entire system will cave, no one to buy stuff, means no business, mean no money and the cycle is broken. What type of jobs or systems that will replace AI automation remains to be seen, but if we use history as a guide either the entire cycle will change and be reworked from social change or entire new sectors will pop up generating tons of new jobs. Currently I believe the former, I have doubts about new industries with new opportunities popping up.
