This sounds very familiar (not from Google)! Especially tons of legacy code which no-one understands and can document. And new code is not documented either because there was no time. And after all, you can read the code. What other documentation do you really need? The only way to find out how it works is to let it bite you all over again. And I absolutely love how AI will write our code. Like I wish I could write my code. I don't even have much time for that because I spend my days searching for it, writing docs, writing docs again to document privacy and pinging non-responsive people in screaming for help.
