Increased competition for employment lowered the price of labor in those sectors, so workers today aren’t getting paid as well as they used to. You are right, this isn’t new and this trend will continue: more and more sectors will be automated, people who use to work in those sectors will try to find employment in different sectors. This increase in competition for employment in remaining not-automated sectors will continue negatively affect wages. Matter of fact, some sectors may become so saturated with cheap human labor that they may never become automated ( may not be automated for a very long time)
