Raw LLM Responses

What LLMs do is borderline miraculous. The technology. The computations they are doing to come up with responses are mind-boggling. Even the people who designed them don’t really understand how they work. I don’t really believe they have a “soul” and I certainly don’t think they care about us or have emotions. But the nature of consciousness is basically completely not understood. Certainly in many ways LLMs do show signs of intelligence. I agree with some of what you say, but I disagree with the way you are downplaying how amazing, complex, and even intelligent this technology is. As for whether there is consciousness? Certainly not in the way we are conscious. But again, the nature of consciousness is not well understood in general.
