I feel like this is more of a feel good thing than anything else. The nuclear missiles are already autonomous, they have no pilot. The only thing you do is type in the target and hit the button. The only thing they could really improve is make it like Dr Strangelove's doomsday device, where it automatically fires off, which I don't think either side was considering. Banning it in drones? They know that cruise missiles exist which can autonomously fly to and kill anyone in a location? Things like path-finding and automatic driving are AI, are we going to not allow soldiers to use their GPS now? Things like image recognition for satellite imagery are unlikely to be phased out either. We just have too many spy satellites to do that manually. Its kind of an empty statement.
