I don't think there is any slowing down at this point, if one company decides to embrace AI and cut their costs by 50%, there will be no choice but for the other competitors to do the same, or they will die. The same goes for governments, if we decide to halt AI efforts, China and Russia will still be developing it, putting everyone else at a huge disadvantage.
