That’s just it though. These tools have the potential to improve the lives of millions, eventually billions. I’m in my thirties, and everything I’ve seen so far gives me the utmost confidence that certain people will make this ruin lives. I’m constantly on the edge at work and always playing catch-up. Conceptually I’m working my dream job but in actuality I am looking for an exit strategy because I am being squeezed dry. I can see a number of ways that I can implement AI to streamline my workload and eliminate some repetitive tasks so I can focus on some more unique demands and reach a sustainable workload. Soon as my boss catches wind that I’m not on the verge of a mental collapse anymore, they will restructure, look at who below me they can eliminate to save money, and offload their work on me until I’m back to being on the verge of collapse again, this time with more responsibilities. All this granted is assuming I keep my job and I’m not that eliminated person. I want to be excited about these new technologies, but I’m not. I’m anxious about how it will be exploited to make more people miserable.
