Me too! Yes, I admire Sal and his educational outreach success with Khan Academy. However, I'm a High School teacher and mother of 2 of my own teenagers and 2 tweens (almost tweens). The Ai tech is so new (with no child development experts or educators on the team), and the K-12 audience is so vulnerable. The addiction to social media and screens is rampant causing anxiety and mental distress. Caregiving takes priority over technological tools. Trust in these tools is undoubtedly at an all time low. We have validation for our protective fears.
However, Sal (and other educators/parents/and caregivers like him) should be at the design table with these Ai development teams. UNTIL THEN, we shouldn't put our guard down. Even Sal mentioned we need GUARDRAILS.
