The company used images without payment or consent.. in a commercial application. Pretty clear thats an issue. Not many people can walk into a gallery and copy the style of every artist there (without development of said style just straight emulation) and make multiple images in a minute and sell them?
So yes artists use others work and styles but further develop the style and can't mass produce 1000s of derivatives a minute. The way we came from cave paintings to beautiful works of art is taking a style and developing it over generations. Ai can't develop a style.. it can only copy
