@PunmasterSTP Sentience is definitely not needed for an AI to achieve general intelligence, or atleast the accepted idea of general intelligence, which is the broad ability to adapt to new problems, and learn, reason, and plan around it. Sentience is basically completely unachievable too, especially since no were learning that sentience and consciousness isnt purely based on our brain but likely much more tied to sensory and perceptual systems, there is still chances aswell that it could be some more weird physics at play related to quantum mechanics but even that sounds very scifi.
Also Elon Musk hasnt defined what AGI is in his statement, it could just be a marketing term, hes said it only had a "chance" too.
