As someone getting a PhD in computational neuroscience, a lot of people share your opinion, but I disagree.
While it's true that the brain is too complex to practically replicate (there are mechanisms underlying mechanims, underlying mechanisms), we can most definitely develop algorithms powerful enough to do the same job as the brain does
