@dorongrossman-naples9207 rather than the unanswerable philosophical question, "What is true intelligence", much better to dissect the intelligence we can examine in these LLM chatbots.
Where do they make mistakes? What are the patterns of mistakes? How do we get them to sanity check? How do they assess risk and what risks do they actually care about? How do we help them understand real-world context? How do we get them to care about truth more than plausibility?
I've worked with LLM chatbots sufficient to go beyond these questions, and it's complicated. There is far more an illusion of intelligence than any actual thinking. It's more like free association (guessing) than logical thinking.
