If facts are what matter to you, you would realize the end result is the same. So they didn't test it on enough black people, particularly women. The end result is the software is racially biased. Was that intentional? Who knows. Meanwhile, the FBI is using Amazon's facial recognition software to identify criminals and spy on people, despite it having fatal flaws. Whether or not this was a purposeful flaw, it still happened, and still needs to be addressed. If a learning algorithm uses past human behavior as a model, it will almost certainly have bias, and this has happened many times.
