Artists are angry because they were stolen from without their permission. Now I've heard some models don't store images-- that's actually a fair counterargument, but that doesn't change the fact it only takes an Ai a couple seconds to mimic what it took someone years to polish. It's not just the big bad capitalist artists that are upset, and even if it were, it doesn't discredit them in any way. Because what happened to them would still be morally wrong.
