Whats the difference between your pain and theirs? They are coded to feel pain so therefore it's not "real"? Humans are nothing more then biological artificial intelligence. Our DNA is "code" persay. So inform me of the difference? And before you say they aren't "alive" why do you think humans get to dictate what species has consiousness? Especially since we don't even know much of anything about why we think and feel the way we do.
