@pyerack I agree with your statement and I think this is a people having too high expectations issue. If I need information about X thing I would turn to an AI at this point because AI provides more accurate better informed and more up to date information then any search engine out there 99% of the time. At the same time AI isn't all knowing and it does mistakes BUT if I had to use a search engine to find that information chances are that it wouldn't find results which will help me out almost every single time. As a result seing 'I don't know' as an output from an AI is perfectly acceptable result especially when the alternative is hallucinating with inaccurate information. However instead of accepting that people would go with 'why am I paying money if you don't know??!?' not understanding that this is a much better alternative then giving false results. I have been using AI for a while and at some point there were 'I don't know' answers however the companies that own the AI made sure that this answer is not given. I am not sure if this was a choice made because the technology is limited or because this was a choice made because of the reason you gave.
