I would not recommend AI be used in any field, especially the medical field. When it was applied (pre-2020) to determining if people had TB, it keyed off of the kind of machine that was used, determined by the quality of the scan imaging. Not the actual image in the scan, but just enough data to decide how old the machine that made the scan was. Why? Because it turns out that in areas with more TB, older machines were more likely to be used. So "age of the machine that took the scan" was a better indicator of whether someone had TB than even looking at the images, because in areas with people who were likely to have TB, they were most likely to have a scan because they had TB. And they were most likely to have older machines because places with enough money for newer machines were probably treating people for TB before it got bad enough for a scan.
