Most AI are just models and not directly programmed. So that's like asking who came up with the linear equation. The results are determined by the use not the inventor. "Training on data" is like finding out what the slope and intercept should be for a line, it's completely dependent on what you're fitting the line to, and how much you can expect that line to be of use.
