This could (!) be one outcome, sure. However being able to build software faster and with less work does not automatically imply the demand for developers will shrink. What's just as reasonable is that software overall becomes much cheaper since it requires less manpower. And this can lead to more companies being able to afford customized software which increases the demand for it. And if each software takes half the time, but twice as many companies need software, nothing changes about developer demand :)
What I think is undeniable is that automation and software will stay invaluable for companies around the globe. Right now it's just super expensive to create customized software which could change thanks to AI. And I think that's a good thing.
