I'm not at these levels and self-taught, but...
Perhaps one could better reflect on these ideas by asking what unintelligible consciousness is? What is it to 'misunderstand' in a conscious way? Is a perpetual fool, conscious? Psychosis?
Apart from these two examples, to be human, seemingly, is to thoroughly misunderstand. AI can not misunderstand, it would seem, but only be given incorrect premises for its deduction.
I don't like reductionist theory(I'm fairly familiar with Churchland, et cetera... not as much modern theory), so I believe something is there, but the "understanding" of it is lacking, at least to me.
Again, I'm not trained, so I may be far off.
