There is truth to the first part of that.
One of the first places I saw genuine AI interest come up was on a drama forum I frequent. A whole lot of the users there are just toxic, and about half of what they talk about is artists getting into pointless drama or saying something stupid. You see this kind of content a lot on Youtube too. Just being exposed to that for years on end, it's kind of easy to see how they came to resent artists as a whole.
I also see a lot of people in comments more annoyed that a lot of independent artists are still talking about AI despite not being affected by it themselves. Like hating on it is a trend. That kind of perception does not help either.
