@brandondkyle AI certainly isn't going to stop if everyone has that attitude!
I'm dead serious when I say that if everyone I've ever encountered who said there is no hope just took 10 minutes to call or email their political representatives and demand AI safety regulations, we would have a global treaty by now.
There's a whole body of research at this point showing exactly how a global moratorium on frontier AI research is feasible. It's actually shocking how easy it would actually be, given that so many people think it is impossible. At the very least, it is guaranteed that we could buy significant time. The only thing missing is the political will.
Hope goes by the name of Bravery. If you personally do not step up and take responsibility, then you are correct that there is no hope.
