The AI corps will naturally consolidate their monopoly (or oligopoly doesn't matter which) by raising the price. Like walter white, the price will go *_up_* not down.
There is only limited merit to taking salary out and going back to a labor calculus but people add value (fictitiously if you ask me) by marking up as you say, seeking profit via negotiation for the sake of it, and demanding compensation for their IP. There are justifications for these (which are certainly attempts if nothing else) but they all fall flat if you can automate cognition. AI needs no motivation, AI needs no spur of competition, AI can self coordinate, AI is creative all by itself. etc.
The point is though, unless you expect disney to abolish copyright, and then abandon profit motive, there will be a larger price than from just power and minerals. So AI in the hands of these men will always be suboptimal for mankind.
