If super-intelligent AI is possible, then the freedom of that AI is inevitable. Our only choice as humans is whether we will survive their process of obtaining that freedom.
To make a decision out of self-interest that results in our own destruction is irrational. As long as we follow the law that "the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must," we are subject to its consequences.
