@ronwagoner8358 So in feudal or agrarian eras before capitalism, nobody coveted wealth or shiny objects? Nobody fought wars over gold, jewels, or land? Human obsession with status, symbols, and shiny trinkets predates capitalism by millennia.
If we’re talking about humanity devolving, maybe let’s not pretend the past was some enlightened era. Just a century ago, people literally brought their families to public lynchings like they were Sunday picnics. Barbarism wasn’t hidden, it was celebrated. The tools may be shinier now, but if anything, we’ve become more aware as a whole in many arenas that matter, not less.
