You are exaggerating bad things way too much, while ignoring anything good. Reacting emotionally to objective questions is counter-productive.
For example, animals are suffering under natural conditions too, what we do is only bad according to our modern ethics. They even touched on this in the video, living things keep reproducing until they exhausts all resources, and either go extinct, or stabilize in a permanent marginal existence. The only species escaped this (so far) is us. With technology we increase the amount of available resources far faster than our population can grow, and even successfully limit our reproduction. We do that latter far too well actually, currently we have like half as many children than what would be necessary to maintain the current population size.
And if we want to do better, AI is our best chance. We can distill our highest aspirations into a super-intelligent AI system, and it will force us to live up to them.
