idk about ironic...software engineering in general has always been about doing a task easier, faster, cheaper....
Automation has been the name of the game for decades, went from basic scripts that do a couple actions instead of having to manually do it every time. Power automate these days can do tonnes of stuff without much coding knowledge at all.
