That's nonsensical, it implies that we got to Maxwell's equations by taking the knowledge of ancient Greeks, and just rationalising from there. We didn't, we needed empiricism. AI won't be able to push science forward by thinking about how the universe should work, but by analysing the results of experiments we've already done anew, or by designing the next experiments. Even superintelligence won't be a magical god.
