COBOL was written to be so damn easy that even manager could write code and not need actual devs. CASE tools - same promise but with UML. Outsourcing - we can't automated it, so let's give it to legions of underpaid and overworked people overseas. AI can replace everyone. Of everything, AI has the most promise but really is powerful in the hands of a highly competent engineer. Managers blindly copying and pasting AI code will end badly. But, I for one, welcome our AI overlords - because I know what the f*ck I am doing - but now 10x faster.
