the problem is that there's no skill behind ai generated images. it's kinda the same feeling I get behind someone who used programmed drums in a metal song as opposed to a real drummer using triggers (kinda music nerdy talk), I get disappointed. also I don't think the "quality" of an art piece is what should be focused, rather it should be more the process. the result of the amount of time spent practicing and perfecting one's craft being laid out with each piece they make. even if someone makes a "mediocre" piece, I can still appreciate it more than AI, because it doesn't feel like there's any shortcutting, and also ends up giving character and personality to an art piece. AI generated images do not evoke that feeling as there is no personality or character, and it just looks monotonous af. I'm okay with AI being trained on your own art as opposed to others who do NOT consent to it, but I'm still gonna look at you differently if you end up doing that. like an actual drummer using drum programs.
tldr: it's the lack of personality behind AI "art" that gets people disappointed, not ego.
