It's because it completely dehumanizes art as a whole. No AI "art" is original, as algorithms need to be fed information in order to give something back. Since this information is coming from people that have spent days, weeks, even months of their lives making the perfect details, it dehumanizes their ACTUAL creation. Especially since AI "art" can be made with no talent, time or effort, it can be almost instant. Not to mention, they were trying to SELL it. It's blatant art theft on its own, but selling it as an NFT is disgustingly dehumanizing. People work for their art so it can put food on their table, clothes on their back and a roof over their head. Calling this slop "art" completely ruins and attempts to replace that. All because it "looks" better rather than having an actual soul and passion behind it. Imagine if Van Gogh made Starry Night, and then someone copied off of him and sold it as their own original artwork. That's quite literally what AI does. That's why people hate it so much. I know you probably didn't have the attention span to read this far, so you'll probably say you didn't read all that or that i was yapping. So TL;DR, AI is recycling pre-existing information and mashing it together, which is theft. It's upsetting because artists pour their souls into art, when AI has no soul to pour.
