unless we wind up in a nuclear war, a pandemic much worse than the last, or the small chance AI doesn't end up liking us, I think we'll be ok. keep your head up and focus on what you enjoy. people who make decisions in panic mode usually don't end up somewhere they want to be, even if they are making more money.
