It was when a colleague was talking about a compilation of "guess what's AI" videos. She'd seen a clip of a Zebra running down a city street, thought it was AI (because Zebras are in savannah not urban areas) but it turned out to be true content.
It just occurred to me that a lot of things we see online, our first measure of "is this real?" tends to be our guts... Which is a problem when we have people like President Fart saying stuff like "fake news"- his supporters believe him, his haters disbelieve him, but when even the sources of his sources can be AI/fake you're back to the gut instinct of "I don't like him, so I won't believe him"
Is it possible we'll manage to end up a weird kind of digital dark ages lol
