I recently asked ChatGPT a question regarding a technology in our cloud stack, that's publicly documented, and it confidently gave me incorrect information. The problem with gen AI is that a user builds confidence in asking it questions but is then lead astray when it suddenly provides completely off the wall answers when asked other questions. I've enabled Google's Gemini search feature that will summarize search results for you but I mostly ignore it now because you cannot trust the information it's telling you is up to date or even relevant. Who knows where the information is actually coming from or if the sources most prominent in its models are even trustworthy.
For me, the latest LLMs are more akin to a narcissist that always has an answer to any of your questions but oftentimes has zero expertise on the subject matter.
