Really what would stop this is workers rights and regulations, for example forcing companies that replace their workforce with AI to pay a pension to those displaced workers
Or a UBI (Universal Basic Income) funded by a wealth tax, raised capital gains taxes and a tax on AI usage, which would stop workers being left completely destitute when they lose their jobs and would force employers to actually offer competitive wages and reasonable conditions
