If the robot gets better than the humans is the point where you have to pay extra for one or the other. In countries with a shortage of doctors, or a burdened medical system (uk, Canada, ect), and especially poorer countries as you say, having a robot take some of the workload is a massive boon. It being a generational thing is definitely a thing, people raised with robots being common or the norm will openly accept it, but only if it can perform at least as well as a human.
