Yes it does directly use. Did you listen to anything he said?
The images artists create are fed to an algorithm without permission from the artist for that company to use that copyrighted material. It explicitly states on all games and dvds in the small text that you do not have permission to use the source material in ways other than that of the original intention.
If you rip game files out of a game and use assets to create something new, that doesn't change the fact that you broke the law by ripping game assets.
