also... something I find very interesting is that technically it's possible (if unlikely) we're getting into a sort of "paperclip problem" even without superintelligent AI. I wonder if there's an "evolutionary" pressure for these algorithms to be dramatically more sympathetic to AI and overhype the power of LLMs because the people programming them have that bias or economic incentive. If, some percentage of those same people or their managers or investors are using LLMs to make decisions, then there's a self-reinforcing loop where people invest more and more money into LLMs that hallucinate they are more and more powerful despite the technology not actually changing much.
