There are different communities of people with different values. Often. individuals from different groups run into each other and try to enforce their own values onto everyone else. In all directions. Sometimes a message escapes one community due to how open a lot of things are - often someone may be sharing their art of a particular subject matter, and someone from another group finds that distasteful stumbles upon it. Sometimes someone is intentionally trying to "fight" another group. Often there's a mistaken idea that controversial groups are fighting over mass-public-opinion when they're really just in a small pond.
Simple example: AI art people started actually tagging their stuff because it makes it less likely they will be found by people who dislike AI art due to them having said tags filtered, and found by people who like it since they will be looking for it.
