Consciousness is the degree of awareness and unawareness. We do have an implicit knowledge of what we know and what we don't know. AI cooks up stories when it doesn't know, and there is no implicit "knowledge" that it doesn't know - there is no "knower" behind an AI.
Science has to transcend a lot of assumptions and biases to arrive at a correct definition of consciousness.
