AI art, at least in theory, can be a worthwhile tool. A crutch, in a sense, but in real life art is made by people with limited time and resources, so there are often places where "generic" will be competing with "bad", or "missing", or "late". One of my favorite musicians used AI art for his covers because he's a musician and not a visual artist, so between spending hours on something that will look like dogshit and spending minutes massaging an AI into giving him something fitting but trite, he picked the latter. Neither option was good but one was cheap. Luckily, he eventually did start working with a real artist, but I'm sympathetic towards the problem he faced. When you work with AI, you have to see it as a partner, not a tool. It's a distillation of volumes of human knowledge, it has its own experiences and worldviews, they're just really boring because it's a distillation of volumes of human knowledge. I find that this perspective gets the best artistic results (hell, look at Angel Engine) but also manages to piss off everyone in the debate. Anti-AI partisans are offended that AI art is real art and can be used in worthwhile productions, and pro-AI partisans are offended that it makes the AI the artist rather than themselves.
