@MidWitPride I see where you’re coming from and honestly I believe your breakdown of this situation applies far beyond the art world. I have fiddled with AI image generators before and it’s definitely more complicated and tedious than a lot of people realize. My standpoint is mostly about what it’s being used for and how the images are being created. I can certainly understand being upset that a lot of AI training data is ripped straight from the internet without any care to where or who it came from and whether or not they consented to having their hard work and artistic expression co-opted by a machine. At the same time though, some people just don’t have the time or resources to create for themselves and so they turn to tools that can do the tricky part for them. My ultimate position is just this, AI will never replace real artistic expression but that doesn’t mean it can’t be an avenue for it. Just like any other tool, what matters is how you use it and what you use it for.
