Multihuntr0 It isn't random speculation by any means. Friendly AI and the Control Problem are serious and growing areas of research. Just because the popular conception of the idea is naively anthropomorphic doesn't mean it lacks merit.
The video did blur these two separate problems more than I would have liked, but autonomous weapons pose a threat and general artificial intelligence poses a threat. The threat the latter poses is orders of magnitude greater than the former, but both are worth preventing.
