@KaterynaM_UA First off, I am sorry if I upset you, but there are questions that should be answered.
(let me preface that In this video, it's kind of hard to tell if the issue is these AI companies are making money, or if the issue is control over their art)
What if a non-commercial project created their own generation application? If the issue is money, than what if the AI was not used commercially. And even if AI art generation is very profitable...
Do these AI take away the profits that these artist would get? AI art is good and all, but there are some areas where AI can't measure up. In most art pieces, AI distorts space in unrealistic ways. For some art, this is fine, but in a lot of cases a human artist can do better. AI art is for a different demographic to those who would work with artist (commissions, NFT's, etc.). AI art is usually cheaper and allows the user to experiment, but has some rough edges. Artist will give you a polished product, but is usually more expensive and you can't experiment with what you want.
What's the difference between an AI using an artists art, over an artist taking inspiration from another artist? Let's say an artist sets out to perfectly replicate another artist art style, What's the difference between the artists art, and the AI's art? The point against this in the video states that an AI can perfectly replicate an artist art, but that's not what the AI does. The AI uses the image as a base, but the end product is not a copy of an artists work. Another point made is that when artist try to do what I described, they always have their own human touch. What's the difference between the human differences, and the differences the AI make. Neither of their art will be a one to one of the original artists, so why do humans get a pass.
Are personal AI models bad? I am referring to the example at (8:35). I feel like the person who made the model should have watermarked them, but the rest I'm curious about. If I create and post a remix of a song I like on YouTube, should I ask for permission from the original artist? I'm pretty sure when it comes to covers/remixes, most people don't ask for permission, so how is this different to art?
These are just some of the questions I had whilst watching this video. Again, I don't mean to be rude to any artist, but the questions are less black and white in my eyes.
