@josesa6121 I wish I shared your optimism, but having used GPT since its release I have seen it go from being unable to do basic arithmetic to being able to solve the following problem in just a few years:
What is the maximum size of a Hamiltonian for which a general solution exists for its energies, and why?
As a PhD in physics, you should be able to solve this problem, and to be honest it’s not that hard. However, this is definitely beyond the pay grade of first year physics students.
I have also seen a huge reduction in the number of entry level roles available in many technical jobs, which are sometimes explicitly stated by the company to be due to automation. This means that the unemployment rate for physics students has increased tremendously and is now near the top of the pile (I’m serious look it up).
