AI wasn't necessarily developed with the intent to help humanity or solve problems. It was developed to usurp people of their abilites, agency, and livelihood. Creators of the technology openly discuss this all the time. Of course, a lot of superficial benefits and hype have been thrown out there to make people think there's value in this.
